Being a Manager of People is sometimes the most rewarding thing in the world. You can turn minions into leaders. You can provide a place where people can do their best work in the best way possible. You can make a positive impact on those who work for you. You can be ultra-cool boss dude where everyone loves you.
Unless you have my job.
*Sigh*
I am back to work after telling my headache specialist doc that I was going back to work regardless of what she said. She said I am not going to keel over dead, so I am not going to take a third month off. Of course, if things had been running smoothly, I might have taken her recommendation. But things were not running smoothly. At all.
So, instead of mentoring the minions, I am corralling egos, crushing outsized (and outlandish) dreams, prodding the masses onto the right track and trying to get my group back into some semblance of a smoothly working operation. And doing it all with the same headache I have had for the last two months.
Oh, and do it well enough that the Demons from Sacramento don't shut my damn hospital and I lose my job along with my boss and a couple of other dozen people.
Just another day at the office. And you wonder why I would prefer to be Published Author instead of Aspiring Author.
